𝟮𝟱 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 | 𝟮𝟬:𝟬𝟬 𝘂𝘂𝗿 | 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗠𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿(𝗹)𝗱𝘀 – 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮

For The Spirit of Africa, I invite musicians from Uganda, Gambia and India for a musical encounter in the atmospheric sawmill of Molen de Ster in Utrecht.

The evening begins with a solo performance by Daniel Okiror, a multi-instrumentalist and passionate activist from Uganda, living in Utrecht. He focuses on preserving the tribal music of his roots in Uganda.
This will be followed by a performance by the group 𝘎𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘢 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘴, a meeting of three musicians from different parts of the world: Kora player and singer Jalli Lamin Kuyateh from The Gambia, Tarang Poddar from India on tabla and myself on flute and bansuri. The music reflects Africa, India, jazz and improvisation but above all, the audience is drawn into a story about the celebration of life.
