CD ‘Le Coq Rouge/D.J.S.’

Mark Lotz

The second release by Mark Lotz and his Lotz Of Music ensemble. Blending modern jazz with an eclectic contemporary approach, the music ranges from avant-garde explorations to M-Base Collective-inspired grooves. Alongside Lotz’s own compositions, the album features works by Maarten Ornstein, Marius Beets, Ornette Coleman and Stefan Krüger.

Originally part of the 2-CD box Le Coq Rouge (Via Records), the other album (CD2: Lotz of Music Meets Batá Drums, now Baba Fururu) showcases a collaboration with three Cuban Batá drummers, merging jazz with Afro-Cuban rhythmic traditions.
