Festivals and concert series
Seeking to capitalize on the music-hungry fanbase that developed in the Utrecht area, Mark Lotz launched festivals and concert series, serving the community through the arts.
•1993/94; Organizer and co-founder of the first ‘Utrechts Jazz Treffen’ Festival
•1994; Critic for the magazin ‘Muziek en Onderwijs’
•2000 – 2014; Co-programmer of the ‘Music: World Series’ national wide concert & festival organization
•2007 – 2011; Programmer of a weekly improv concert series ‘u-ex(perimental)‘ at the SJU Jazzpodium and Centraal Museum, Utrecht
•2011 – 2022; Member of the government board of the association for improvising musicians, BIMpro.
•2012; Curator of the ’U-Jazz Festival’, Utrecht
•2014 – 2020; Advisor composition ’Fonds voor Podium Kunsten’
•2016 – now; Director of the Festival ‚Jazz Op De Sofa’, Zeist
•2018 & 2019; Organizer of the ‘HKU Flute Festival‘
•2018; Curator of the ‘Taipei International Improvisation Music Festival’ (TIIMF), Taiwan. Edition ‘Focus On Holland’
• 2019, editor for the the Concertzender radio presenting (and donating) in four episodes my Lotz Collection – a collection of CD I got from musicians during my travels around the globe
•2019, Initiator of the BIM Podium Prijs 2019. An award by the Union Of Improvising Musicians (BIM Pro) for a small venue
•2020; Curator of the Lotz Of Music Series in collaboration with Beauforthuis, Austerlitz
•2020/21; Curator of Mark My Wor(l)ds concert series in collaboration with Museum Speelklok Utrecht
•2020/21; GIST! A collective of Utrecht based artists with a festival and concert series
•2021 – now; VOLfest. A monthly world-music concert series at the Vollenhove flats, Zeist
•2021 – 2024; Jazzcafé Zeist. A monthly jazz concert at the castle Of Zeist.
•2023/24; Curator of the Mark My Wor(l)ds concert series in collaboration with Molen De Ster, Utrecht
