Draai Om Je Oren (UJazz Festival)

“Hereafter followed, which would later become apparent, the highlight of the evening. As announced on the flyer: “Five free spirits in an exciting meeting. Surprising, compelling, visionary.” No word of a lye.

Wonder flautist Mark Alban Lotz, the American guest Don Byron on clarinet and tenor sax, pianist Albert van Veenendaal, Jörg Brinkmann on cello and electronics and percussionist Alan Purves gave a lesson in ultimate free improvised music. Free rhythm structures and melodic melody lines formed the basis on which new musical sounds and worlds were created with utmost concentration and craftsmanship.

The musical and technical skills and the respectful interaction of each of the musicians made this concert a real feast of improvisation.”
