Tour Turkey 2024

5 March 2024

Mark Lotz Press

April and May 2024 bring a new series of jazz and improvised music concerts in Turkey, featuring both longtime collaborators and exciting new connections.

Over the past two decades, I’ve had the privilege of visiting Turkey many times, working with some of the country’s most inspiring artists and releasing three albums with Turkish musicians. My first collaboration was with bassist and composer Kamil Erdem, renowned for his legendary work with Asia Minor.

Subsequent concerts followed with Turkey’s First Lady of Jazz, Turkey Sibel Kose  among many others. A major highlight has been my ongoing involvement in the Turkish improvised music scene, including collaborations with Islak Köpek (The Wet Dogs)—Istanbul’s first improvising ensemble—and guitarist Umut Çağlar. These partnerships gave birth to the projects IstanPOOL and a duo with electronic musician Korhan Erel.
