Hanyauku (Lullaby for Tymon)

Wagabunda

Life is full of intersections, and everything is connected. Grzegorz Piasecki, the bassist on my first trio CD, and I once recorded a short improvisation: Lullaby for Tymon, dedicated to the firstborn son of Grzegorz Piasecki and Magdalena Zawartko.

Two years later, Grzegorz and his wife, vocalist and composer Magdalena Zawartko, revisited the piece for their album Wagabunda. This time, they arranged it for a full band—and even recreated the solo I originally played. Hearing it now, I’m truly honored. It sounds fantastic.

Wagabunda

Here the two versions: the first is the original version by the Mark Lotz Trio and the second by Zawartko/Piasecki and and band.
